Anna di Joannes Baptista Defranceschi (fl. 1746), about 1722

The family

No family chart is drawn for this person, and that is a statement about the data rather than about them. This archive records kin against a name — the tree on a name page gathers everyone who shares it, so it may hold one person's dates beside another's wife. Rather than hand a reader a family that might not be this person's, the chart is drawn only where the relationship is recorded person by person, which today means the direct line.

What the archive knows

«Die 17 8bris 1746 … Patrini ad Sacrum Fontem fuerunt Laurentius Ochrovi, et Anna filia defuncti Baptistæ Defranceschi.» — magnified and read letter by letter. She is the second grown daughter of the late Battista, and the register names her the same way it names her sister three years earlier: by a dead father, which is how it identifies a woman who has not married. Antonia di Joannes Baptista Defranceschi (fl. 1743) stands godmother as «filia q.m Joannis Baptistæ Defranceschi» on 20 December 1743; Anna stands as «filia defuncti Baptistæ Defranceschi» on 17 October 1746. Two daughters, three years apart, one dead father, and no baptism for either of them anywhere in this volume. (doc for the appearance; the sisterhood is inf, on the identical formula and the single parish.) Their father is not the Carnic Joannes Baptista, who is alive and standing godfather in 1744 and 1745. And a brother, three years later: Faustino di Joannes Baptista Defranceschi (fl. 1749), «filio q.m Joannis Baptistæ Defranceschi», 17 September 1749. (inf.)
