The family
No family chart is drawn for this person, and that is a statement about the data rather than about them. This archive records kin against a name — the tree on a name page gathers everyone who shares it, so it may hold one person's dates beside another's wife. Rather than hand a reader a family that might not be this person's, the chart is drawn only where the relationship is recorded person by person, which today means the direct line.
What the archive knows
On a broken slab propped against the wall of the de Franceschi tomb.
> FLEGAR FRANJO ✱ 2. 3. 1872 ✝ 19. 10. 1940 — and above him, on the fractured upper half, a MARIJA, «… 6. 10. 1873 ✝ 8. 1. 19[??]», her death year lost with the break.
> «LAHKA IN BILA ZEMLJA» — may the earth be light and white.
Read 29 September 2026 from David's photographs of the family tomb in the cemetery at Gologorica — a walled monument with a cross, the arms in the pediment, and three tablets. (doc.)
⚠ The closing line is Slovenian, not Croatian or Italian — «lahka in bila zemlja», where Croatian would be «laka ti zemlja». In a village that spent the nineteenth century arguing whether it was Gologorica or Moncalvo, a third language turns up on a broken stone. (doc for the inscription; what the Slovenian means about the family is not claimed.)
⚠ And the surname is already in this archive. A Maria Flegar, 1842–1882, married into the name. Whether these Flegars are her people is untested and wants the Gologorica registers. (open.)
The slab is broken across its top and no longer standing. It is recorded here because a stone in that condition may not survive another decade.
No one else in this archive carries this name.
