the direct line, argued on the line

This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

4 relationships on this chart were never date-tested. This archive refuses a relative whose years do not fit — more than six out for a child, outside twelve to sixty for a parent. Where one side has no year at all that test cannot run, and the link is drawn on the name. It is shown because most people in the early registers carry no year, and refusing them would empty the chart of the centuries this archive exists to show. It is counted here because a line nothing tested is a weaker claim than a line that passed, and the chart cannot tell them apart.

What the archive knows

The head of the second Defranceschi household at Fiume. Styled D.nus, married to D.na Magdalena, he baptises Josephus Aloysius on 29 May 1748 (film 005497925, image 150). By 9 December 1771 he is a widower, marrying Catharina de Benzoni (film 005497925, volume 2, image 293), and has indexed children by her in 1773 and 1776. He is not one of Valentino the Carnian's sons — the only Joannes Baptista among them was baptised in 1751. How the two households are related is unanswered; their marriage entries are on the same reel, in volume 1's marriages of 1734–1753.
