the direct line, argued on the line

This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

22 relationships on this chart were never date-tested. This archive refuses a relative whose years do not fit — more than six out for a child, outside twelve to sixty for a parent. Where one side has no year at all that test cannot run, and the link is drawn on the name. It is shown because most people in the early registers carry no year, and refusing them would empty the chart of the centuries this archive exists to show. It is counted here because a line nothing tested is a weaker claim than a line that passed, and the chart cannot tell them apart.

What the archive knows

⭐⭐ A Defranceschi wife from Gologorica, married to a Gračišće man, at Pola in 1898. On 7 August 1898, at the Pola cathedral, «Elda Maria Aloisia» (born 23 July 1898, house 20, Via Helgoland) was baptised: father «Salamon Aloisius, Joannis, e Gallignana, negotiator»; mother «Defranceschi Maria, qm Francisci, e Moncalvo, Gollogorizza»; godparents «Salamon Antonius, negotiator» and «Defranceschi Lina» (Pula births 1896–99, image 204 of waypoint 9R28-3YS, first entry of the left-hand page, open). doc. «Moncalvo» is the Italian for Gologorica (goli vrh, bald hill), so the mother is named as a daughter of the late Franciscus of Gologorica. inf: the likeliest Francis is Franciscus Xaverius Joseph (1816 – 4 Jan 1893) of house 4, whose daughter Maria Henrica was born on 5 April 1868 — but the entry gives no age, house or husband's dates, and this search did not check whether any other Franciscus of Gologorica fits, so the page does not decide it. The Salamon link is the old one: Salamon godparents stand at the 1843 Gologorica baptism of Teresia (house 5) and Salamon is the name of the 1843 godfather chased in the worklist; this is the first Salamon husband of a Defranceschi woman in a register read page by page, with the man from Gračišće (Gallignana) and the wife from Gologorica married and living at Pola, selling goods («negotiator»). The marriage itself is not found.
