What the archive knows

⭐⭐ A TWIN, documented 12 October 2026 — and the archive did not know she was one. She was one of seventeen Ližnjan people resting on the family tree and no document at all, carrying nothing but «1875–1875». Ližnjan «Liber Defunctorum», page 67, entries 5 and 6 of 1875 — and the scribe wrote them as one entry with a brace, the parents and the priest written once across both rows: > «mortua die 22 Febr., sepulta die 23 ejusdem, 1875» — house 61 — «Anastasia» and «Maria», of «Gregorii Defranceschi» and «Mariæ Vojnić», agr. Both rows carry the same two figures: «nat. 20/2 75» — born 20 February 1875 — and an age of «dies 3». Cause for both: «ordin.». Buried by D. Gregorius Smak, parochus. Born on the same day, dead on the same day, buried on the same day, braced together on the page: they were twins. The archive held them as two unrelated children who happened to share a year. ⚠ The arithmetic, left as the register wrote it. Born the 20th and dead the 22nd is two days; the scribe put «dies 3» against each. He may have counted inclusively, or counted to the burial on the 23rd. The register's own figure is recorded rather than quietly corrected to fit. The date format is confirmed on the same page, not assumed: entry 4, two rows above, reads «nat. 2/5 851» against a man whose age is given as «ann. 23, m. 8, d. 26» — born 2 May 1851, which only works as day/month/year. Waypoint 9R2Z-4WG, frame 37. (doc — the burial register of the parish, read at the page.)

No family is drawn for this name — this archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry that names it beside anybody else. A record does stand behind it: the one below, not joined to any household. The Register is where an index entry would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
