What the archive knows

Godmother at Gračišće on 13 February 1791, and the register grades her «Nobiles Pisinenses» — a noble of Pazin. (doc.) > «Die 13 Febb. … Josephus Pompeus Petrus … pater Dominus Servulus, jugales Martinich; mater Francisca filia Ill.mi Domini ex Nobilibus de Rapicio ex Pisino. Patrini: «J. Bap. de Tranquillis» et «Anna de Franceschi» — Nobiles Pisinenses. Ego Nicolaus de Rapicio, Parochus Pisinensis, de licentia Ill.mi D.ni Archipresbyteri, baptizavi.» DAPA microfilm ZM34K-215, image M01070200, folio 161 — found 9 October 2026 in the sweep of the register's Patrini column, a column this archive had never read. ⭐ WHY SHE MATTERS BEYOND BEING NEW. This archive holds one other noble of the surname in the County of Pazin: «Dominus Comes Damianus de Franceschis», whose son was baptised at the same parish on 25 March 1720 by the Provost and Vicar of the Cathedral of Pedena. He is in no source this archive holds and has never been identified. Anna is a second noble Defranceschi in the same small county, seventy-one years later, standing with the de Tranquillis and attended by a de Rapicio priest — and the Rapicio had married into the Martinich of Gračišće. A circle of four Pazin families, with a Defranceschi inside it. ⚠ No relationship to Count Damian is claimed, and none to the Gologorica or Gračišće households. She is recorded as the register gives her: a name, a day, and a rank.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
