What the archive knows
⭐⭐ Her row was a name and two tree years. She turns out to be the wife of the župan, and this archive has had her standing at fonts for a year without knowing she was the same woman.
> 46 · «Joanna Defranceschi annorum nonaginta circiter, vidua defuncti Supani Joannis Defranceschi, munita Sacramentis Pœnitentiæ, Eucharistiæ, ac Extremæ Unctionis per me Parochum hujus Loci Marcum Bancich, et a me eodem sepulta est 21 in Arca ejusdem existente in hac Parochiali Ecclesia.»
(doc — DAPA ZM34K-214, M01068988, the Gologorica death register «Liber Mortuorum II», under 20 April 1774, in the hand of Marcus Bancich.)
Died 20 April 1774, buried the 21st — inside the parish church, in her own household's tomb.
⚠ THE ŽUPAN IS NOT NEW — and this is her death, not his office. This archive has carried him since the Gračišće sweep: «Patrini fuerunt Judex Gregorius Milcovich et Ioana Uxor Sup.ⁿⁱ Ioanis Bap.ᵗᵃe Defranceschi» (8 January 1733) and «R.ᵈⁱ D.ⁿⁱ Joannes Grach, et Joanna uxor Sup.ⁿⁱ Jo: Baptistæ Defranceschi de Golagoriza» (1743). That is this woman, at a font in another parish, forty-one and thirty-one years before she died. inf,
on the forename, the office, the parish and the dates — and the death entry abbreviates the husband to «Joannis» where the Gračišće ones give «Joannis Baptistæ».
⭐ So the archive's best-documented eighteenth-century Gologorica household now has a grave. The župan was the man the absentee lord governed the village through; his family had a tomb inside the parish church; and his widow outlived him into her ninetieth year.
⚠⚠ AND IT EXPOSES AN ARITHMETIC PROBLEM THIS ARCHIVE HAD NOT NOTICED. The Zagreb librarians' account makes the župan's son Gian Pietro,
the lord's tax-collector — and this archive identified that man yesterday as «Sig.ʳ Giovanni Pietro Defranceschi, N.º 36, d'anni 86½»,
dead 8 September 1781, born about March 1695.*
>
A woman born about 1684 cannot be the mother of a man born about 1695.
One of three things is true and this archive is not choosing between them: her «circiter» is loose by a decade and more; or she is a later wife and Gian Pietro is the župan's son by an earlier one; or the «86½» of 1781 is not his.
⚠ No parentage is attached to anybody on the strength of it. What is recorded is that the join exists and does not add up.*

⭐⭐ 11 October 2026 — she is alive at a font ten years before she dies, and her husband's name is finally written by his own parish.

26 Aprilis 1764 ·
«patrini fuere D.ⁿᵘˢ Matheus Flegar, et Domina Supana Joanna vidua defuncti D.ⁿⁱ Supani Joannis Baptistæ Defranceschi»
(doc — DAPA ZM34K-214,
M01068918, the first text page of «Liber Baptizatorum II».)
This row's note has said that «the death entry abbreviates the husband to «Joannis» where the Gračišće ones give «Joannis Baptistæ».» Gologorica now gives «Joannis Baptistæ» itself,
ten years earlier, in the same priest's hand — and he has a row of his own,
with a death before 26 April 1764,
which is a terminus her burial entry does not supply.
⭐ And she carries the title herself. «Domina Supana» —
not «vidua Supani».
She stood at this font five days short of ten years before she was buried in the family's arca.
⭐ And she is at fonts in 1765 and 1767 as well.
She is a godmother on 24 September 1765 and 14 February 1767,
both times beside Thomas Flegar,
both times for children of the Udovcich Gospood —
and both entries name her husband in full. Three appearances in thirty-four months, all a decade or more after his death, and she was already in her eighties. The three entries are set side by side here.
✔ And a fourth, 5 February 1770 (M01068926) —
«Joanna vidua defuncti Joannis Baptistæ Defranceschi».
She is about eighty-six,
and she has four years to live. Told here. A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
