Gregorio Defranceschi q.m Antonio (fl. 1780)
Gregorio Defranceschi q.m Antonio (fl. 1780), born about 1750 — estimated, not recorded. Svetvinčenat. Every mention of this name in the archive — 1 across 1 page.
A son of Antonio, found only because he stood at somebody else's wedding. 11 November 1780: «…la dove esposero il loro mutuo e libero consenso alla mia presenza di Gregorio Defranceschi q.m Ant.o e di Gasparo Bratulich q.m Vitt.o Campanaro Testimonj» — the marriage of Zuane figlio di Sime Baglianich of Šimuni to Maria figlia del q.m Michiel Gaspich, film 005497886, frame 86, read at 2.6×. (doc for the act.) ⚠ The surname carries an ink blot that swallows its last three letters and the abbreviation after it. What survives reads «Defrance—» at the right length, and the mark before «Ant.o» has the same shape as the undoubted «q.m Vitt.o» written on the very next line in the same ink — which is the only test this archive trusts: a hand is only legible against itself. The reading is given as doc for the name and the patronymic; the blot is stated, not hidden. What it means, if «q.m» is right: Antonio was dead by November 1780. Antonio the bell-ringer last appears alive on 22 November 1779, frame 85. This archive does not assert they are the same Antonio — «q.m Ant.o» fixes only that this Gregorio's father was dead — but the parish is small, the dates touch, and Vittorio son of Antonio is already known here. If both are the bell-ringer's sons, Gregorio is Vittorio's brother. (inf, and flagged as inf.) Born about 1750 — estimated from standing as a witness, nothing more.
This archive holds 3 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
