What the archive knows

The man Virginija married, with dates at last. > F. MARFAN — IVAN ✱ 23. VIII. 1904 ✝ 28. II. 1986 — the stone beside the obelisk at Gračišće, read from David's photograph, 29 September 2026. (doc for the dates.) ⚠ That he is Virginija's husband is inference, not record. The album and the 2012 chart say she «married Giovanni Marfan» — and Ivan is the Croatian form of Giovanni. He is buried in the same small plot, he died within five years of her, and he is on the stone that commemorates Mafalda under «GENITORI». The archive treats this as a strong inference and not as a fact, because no document read here joins the name Ivan Marfan to the name Virginija de Franceschi. (inf.) He outlived her by four years and two months.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
