Livio Defranceschi
Livio Defranceschi, 1925. Pula (Pola). Every mention of this name in the archive — 1 across 2 pages.
Born at Pola, 4 August 1925, entered «nationality: Venezia Giulia». A separate IRO household from the Dignano one, with Carlo and Violetta née Kuvach beside him. IRO «Care and Maintenance» file, Italy (Arolsen 3.2.1.2) — the paperwork of the esodo, the Istrian exodus of 1947. Arolsen Archives online collections, read 21 September 2026 under the -schi spelling, which this archive had not tried until the service came back up. (doc) And a Livio Defranceschi landed at New York in 1957 on the SS Constitution — NARA T715 roll 8833, film 002322278, «birth place Italian» and nothing finer. A Pola man in a 1947 displaced-persons file and a Livio landing in 1957 are the right shape for one life. This archive is not joining them: the manifest gives no birth year and no town, and the only thing the two records share is a forename. The plate would settle it and is blocked on a FamilySearch sign-in. (inf, and deliberately unresolved.)

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
