What the archive knows

Petar's wife, and until today she was a maiden name in somebody else's sentence. Her own camp card: «NOM DEFRANCESKI · PRÉNOMS Luiza · Nationalité Youg. · Date de naissance 5.10.1919 · Profession ménagère · Adresse de l'employeur Neuhausen, Kelterstr. 30 · Situation de famille mariée», IRO no. 148.902 B, camp number 31163. The address is the proof. Kelterstr. 30 Neuhausen is the employer's address on Petar Defranceski's fiche too. This archive already recorded that Petar «married Luise Salzer at Neuhausen in February 1942» — and this is her, under the married name, with a date of birth of her own for the first time. (doc for the card; the identification of Luiza Defranceski with Luise Salzer is inf, on the shared address, the marriage already recorded, and the single camp file.) A French-zone identity card of 27 November 1948 carries her thumbprint and a photograph in which she holds two small children. They have cards of their own in the same file; this archive names them and gives no dates, because both were born within living memory. See Urzula Defranceski and Renate Defranceski. Arolsen Archives, French-zone IRO file 148.902, read 23 September 2026.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
