What the archive knows

Born at Pomer on 4 October 1847, baptised on the 5th, in house 5 — «Michiele nato li 4 Ottobre 1847» — son of Tomaso De-franceschi, Agri. and Mandallena nata Buich; godparents Antonio Vicario q. Domin. and his wife Margherita. He is Lucia's and Maria's brother, and he is named for his father's father. Nothing is known of him after the entry. Source: DGS 005497826 (Pomer births 1816–1834, 1842–1900; FamilySearch waypoint 9R2F-FMH), frame 635 (DGS 005497826_00635), read at magnification. ⭐ HIS DEATH IS READ: «12 Xbris 1861 · house 33 · Michael Defranceschi filius Defuncti Thomae · M · aged 14 · ex febre maligna». doc The «defuncti Thomae» is the proof of identity: the entry itself names him as the son of the late Thomas. It confirms the FamilySearch index record 6YB5-VPNF («Michael Defrančichi», b. 1847, d. 12 Dec 1861, father Thomae), which had been held as a lead and is now read at the page. He lived fourteen years. The 1847 baptism and the 1861 burial agree on his age. No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 5 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Michaël Defranceschi · Michele Defranceschi (father of Tomas) · Michiel De Franceschi · Michiela De Franceschi · Michiele Defranceschi

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
