What the archive knows

Born 19 October 1887, baptised at the Pola cathedral on 24 July 1888: son of «Bearcco Natalis, qm Joannis, e Tramonti di sotto [Veneto], faber ferrarius» and «Radessich Maria, qm Francisci, ex Lissa» (Pula births 1887–96, Liber IX, p. 147, second entry — no. 495 by the page's numbering — image 88 of waypoint 9R2Z-3T1, open; doc; the surname is written «Bearcco» and may be Bearzo). A margin note: «copul. Polae in par. … die 21.XI.1914 cum Angela Defran-/ceschi» — he married a woman written «Angela Defranceschi» at Pola on 21 November 1914 (doc for the note; the marriage entry itself is not on a film this archive has reached). Not of the name's surname; kept because he married a Defranceschi.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
