- Tobias Edward DeFranceschi — 1911 – 1972, Cathedral City, Riverside County, California, USA
Desert Memorial Park His passport application is read, 21 September 2026. Number 122462, [Form for Native Citizen], issued Washington 1 March 1922: «I was born at Washington, D.C. on or about the 15 day of June 1912; my father Louis De Franceski was born in Italy and is now residing at Washington D.C.», with the surname corrected in the margin to «—Franceschi». The identifying witness is Maggie Collins Alt of 28 Aron Place, Brooklyn, who had known him eighteen years. Two things to hold lightly. The application says 1912 and this row carries 1911 — a year apart, and neither has been checked against a birth record. And the identification of this Tobias with the Tobias buried in California rests on an uncommon forename and a surname, not on a document that joins them. (doc for the application; inf for both identifications.)

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
