De Caneva
A family that married into this one.
Lucia Santa, daughter of the late Osvaldo Antonio de Caneva of Liariis, married Felice Santo de Franceschi, a weaver (tessitore), at Ovaro on 15 June 1815. Her mother, Lucia Colinassio, widow of Osvaldo Antonio, was present in person on 14 June to consent. The act writes the family «de Canova» and the baptismal extract writes it «De Caneva». The bride could not sign: «dichiara essere illetterata».
- The act declares all four witnesses «non parenti, né affini». One of them is Daniele «del fu Osvaldo» de Canova, 49, possidente of Liariis, born about 1766, twenty-seven years before the bride.
- An open question: either there were two men called Osvaldo at Liariis, or the «non parenti» formula is boilerplate and Daniele is the bride's brother.
- The de Caneva of Liariis are well recorded: a Gio: Batta De Caneva stood godfather in 1793, and Jacoba, widow of Nicolaus de Caneva, in 1769.
- The family listed below is the bride's, not the groom's.

Not yet searched beyond the parish books and the civil registers. The Ovaro marriage act and its allegati of 1815 were read on the Italian state archives' portal (Antenati, Archivio di Stato di Udine). The work list holds the next step as blocked: Antenati was returning 403 Forbidden to the Chrome that had been reading it.
The Pieve di Gorto baptisms for the 1760s would say whose son Daniele was.
Carnia and Friuli
- Who held it
- Venetian to 1797, Austrian 1815–66, Italian after.
- The registers
- Archivio di Stato di Udine, and the parish archives; the pre-1806 Ovaro books are in no portal at all.
- Beyond the registers
- Antenati (the Italian state archives portal) for the civil registration from 1806 — but it 403s this archive and its name search is behind a bot check. The Austrian decades 1815–66 should leave Habsburg administrative traces that nobody has looked for.
- Where this archive stands
- The largest hole in the archive. Fourteen of the seventy-one in-married families carry Carnian surnames — which is either the strongest circumstantial support the Carnia origin has, or a surname-morphology illusion. It has never been tested against a Carnian register.
