Salomon

A family that married into our own direct line.

Francisca Salomon, born 17 March 1797, married Giovanni Battista Defranceschi and is the mother of the third generation of our line. Her family had a palace on the square at Gračišće, facing the bishop's.

Nothing yet in the Hungarian material, which is the expected answer: Gračišće is Austrian Istria, not Hungarian crown land, so its people belong in Vienna's paperwork and Pazin's, not Budapest's.

A family with a palace on the town square is a family with property deeds, tax assessments and probably a coat of arms. The Austrian Franciscan cadastre of 1818–20 names the owner of every parcel, and the Blasonario Giuliano — already used by this archive for our own name — should be checked for Salomon. Neither has been done.
