The family

No family chart is drawn for this person, and that is a statement about the data rather than about them. This archive records kin against a name — the tree on a name page gathers everyone who shares it, so it may hold one person's dates beside another's wife. Rather than hand a reader a family that might not be this person's, the chart is drawn only where the relationship is recorded person by person, which today means the direct line.

What the archive knows

Named once, as a godmother: «Defranceschi Catarina», with «Zotel Joseph», at the baptism of «Catarina», born that day, 29 December 1895, and baptised at home by the midwife and then supplied at the cathedral by the canon Emanuel Pacovich (house 32, Via Nesazio) — the daughter of «Gobbo Catarina, qm Joannis, e Sarmenigga(?)», no father named (Pula births 1893–96, Liber X, p. 404, entry 865, image 654 of waypoint 9R2Z-3T1, open; midwife Zapletal Dominica; doc). The entry gives her no age, trade or kin, so who she was is not settled. One Catharina of the right place and time is in the archive: Catharina Defranceschi, born 3 February 1869 at Gračišće, a servant at Pola from 1894 and married there in 1898 to Joannes Kostessich — then twenty-six, in service like the baby's mother (inf at most: a servant from Gračišće is a likelier godmother for a servant's child than a stranger, but nothing in the entry says so). The two rows are not merged. Not counted as a find of a new family.
