The family
This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

doc). On 27 February 1883 «Defranceschi Paula Pietra, Gattin des Johann Defranceschi, k.k. Marine-Diener 2. Cl.», lawful daughter of «Peter [Pietro] Rocco, Landtaglöhner» [the last word is not certain], born at Pola in Istria, died in the civil hospital at Pola, aged 31½, of «Lungentuberculose»; she was buried on 1 March 1883 in the naval cemetery (Pola k.u.k. naval parish «Sterb-Register» 1879–1886, image 105; doc). This is Paula Pietra of h132: her husband's name and rank, the birthplace Pola and the age (b. about 1851; 19 at the marriage of 16 January 1871) agree, and her father's «Rocco» is the marriage entry's «Rocco …». Her husband had risen from 4th to 2nd class in the twelve years. A later marginal note, «Ausgefertigt 13/6 84», shows a certificate was copied out on 13 June 1884; no second marriage is found. No child is named in the entry; whether the couple had children is still not known. Her surname «Pietra» is read from the marriage entry, where she is «Paula Pietra»; the death entry writes «Defranceschi Paula Pietra», i.e. under her husband's name, inf.No one else in this archive carries this name.
