Agostino de Franceschi (1833–1896)
Agostino de Franceschi (1833–1896), 1833–1896. Mione, Ovaro. Every mention of this name in the archive — 1 across 1 page.
On a De Franceschi stone in the Carnian cemeteries, read from the photograph. > QUI GIACE AGOSTINO DE FRANCESCHI — NATO 28 LUGLIO 1833 — MORTO 15 SETTEMBRE 1896 — MOGLIE E FIGLI POSERO. Read 29 September 2026 from David's photographs of the Carnian cemeteries — Ovaro, Mione, Muina and Agrons. ⚠ Which of the four cemeteries this stone stands in is not distinguished in the photographs, and is not guessed here. (doc for the inscription.) ⚠ His is the oldest inscription in this set, and it is being lost. The stone has been re-used: newer raised letters for Francesco de Franceschi 1887–1945 and Liduina Cecconi 1897–1977 are bolted over the lower half, and Agostino's cut inscription survives only on the weathered upper part. It is legible now and may not be for long. «Moglie e figli posero» — set up by wife and children; the wife is not named.

This archive holds 1 other page under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
