Anna Kalanj (de Franceschi) (1864–1936?)
Anna Kalanj (de Franceschi) (1864–1936?), 1864. Klenovica, Vinodol. Every mention of this name in the archive — 24 across 10 pages.
This archive's own great-great-grandmother, and until today she had no page. Baptised entry 2 of 1864 at Ledenice, the Vinodol parish above Crikvenica: «Anna, legitimate, daughter of Josephus Kalanj and Rosalia née Perković, at Klenovica house 22; godparents Josephus Ban and his wife Anna; baptised by Vincentius Segulja, parish priest.» Born 3 January 1864. «Brinjensis Parochiæ ruricolæ» — country people of the parish of BRINJE. (doc — the plate is held here, re-read at 6× on 29 September 2026.) ⚠ Two things in that line were wrong or missing here until today. The settlement was carried in fifteen files as «Rijenovica», a place that does not exist; and the words «of the parish of Brinje» — which say where the Kalanj came from — were carried nowhere. The correction is recorded. And the corrected reading joins two facts the archive already held separately: her son Anton Rudolf was born at Klenovica house 22 in 1890 — the same house, twenty-six years later. She has a page of her own family now, at Kalanj — made because David asked whether Kalanj deserved one, which is the question that found all of this. ⚠ She appears on the direct line as generation four's wife and she has never had a record of her own — the same failure a photograph exposed for Virginija Marfan this morning, on the spine of the archive rather than a branch. ⚠ And she is the centre of the oldest open question here. The registers name Ana Kalanj in all four Crikvenica baptismal entries of her children. The family's own genealogy gives Josip a wife Ana Grubišić, 19 September 1863 – 28 May 1936, and that is the name cut on the Crikvenica gravestone. The registers govern and the stone is unexplained — and the stone no longer exists: the plot was sold and the monument taken apart, so the photograph of it is now the only record. No death date is printed here, because the only date on offer belongs to a name this archive cannot yet reconcile with hers. (open — the archive's longest-standing question.) Her people are the Blažević Archive's ground, not this one. What belongs here is the join, and the join is her.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
