What the archive knows

Baptised 13 April 1785 at house 31 — son of Joannes Baptista and Theresia née Grach. His godfather is his mother's own kin and a churchman: «Archipresbiter Grach» of Cherbune — Krbune; godmother Catharina Defranceschi; midwife Maria Chrismanich. He had no dates in this archive. (doc.) Gologorica baptisms 1784–1880 — DAPA microfilm ZM34K-214, image M01069015, folio 3. --- ⭐ 11 October 2026 — the same baptism in a second register, and it says whose wife the godmother was. > 31 · Die 13 Aprilis anno 1785 · «Ego idem Parochus baptizavi filium legitimum natum ex Joanne Bapta Defranceschj ejusque uxore Teresia … nomen Franciscus Antonius. Patrini fuere D.ⁿᵘˢ Archipresbiter GRAH, Parochus Cherbune, et CATTARINA UXOR JOANNIS BAPTA DEFRANCESCHJ.» (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214, M01068944, «Liber Baptizatorum II».) Liber IV gives the godmother only as «Catharina Defranceschi». Liber II names her husband — so the parish is separating the two Joannes Baptistas by their women for the fourth time in this book. Theresia bore him; Catharina stood for him. ✔ And the two registers agree on the house: 31 in both. Which is worth something to the renumbering question.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 1 other page under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Franciscus Antonio / Antonius Defranceschi

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
