Fusca Defranceschi
Fusca Defranceschi, 1870–1870. Ližnjan. Every mention of this name in the archive — 1 across 2 pages.
⭐⭐ DOCUMENTED AT BOTH ENDS OF A SIX-MONTH LIFE, 12 October 2026 — and the name was wrong.
She was one of seventeen Ližnjan people resting on the family tree and no document at all. Both register entries have now been read on the page, not in an index.
BAPTISM. Ližnjan «Liber Baptizatorum», page 15, Annus 1870, first entry: «9ⁿᵃ Januarii 1870», house 3, baptised by D. Gregorius Smak, coop. par. — «Fusca, nata hodie», catholic, female, legitimate, of «Matthæus Defranceschi», agricola, and «Maria n. Primus». FamilySearch waypoint 9R2Z-44D, frame 51.
BURIAL. Ližnjan «Liber Defunctorum», page 54: «mortua 6. Julii, sepult. 8 ejusdem», house 3 — the same house — «Fusca filia Matthæi Defranceschi q. Matthæi et Mariæ n. Primus q. Paschalis», aged «6 mens.», of «debilitas». Waypoint 9R2Z-4WG, frame 31.
Born 9 January, dead 6 July: five months and twenty-seven days. The age column says six months and the two entries agree with each other — same house, same parents, consistent age. That is the corroboration this archive wants and rarely gets: one book checking another without being asked.
⭐ And the burial names two grandfathers the archive did not have — «q. Matthæi», her father's late father, and «q. Paschalis», her mother's late father, a Primus.
⚠ THE NAME. The register reads «Fusca», with an F, in BOTH entries. The tree gave «Tusca», which is not a name. The rule here is that a hand is only legible against itself, and the burial page supplies the test without being sought: its first entry, same page and same hand, reads «Catharina filia di Giovanni Garbin e di Fosca» — the same initial, on a woman's name already known in this parish. Fosca/Fusca is an Istrian name; Tusca is not. Two independent entries, one contemporary comparison.
⚠ Her id stays tusca-defranceschi-1870. Ids are minted once and frozen — a moved id is a dead URL — so the id keeps the error the page no longer carries. That is the intended behaviour, not an oversight.
(doc — the baptism and burial registers of the parish, read at the page.)
6 of the 6 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes.

This archive holds 3 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
