Maddalena de Franceschi (1875–1951)
Maddalena de Franceschi (1875–1951), 1875–1951. Mione, Ovaro. Every mention of this name in the archive — 1 across 1 page.
On a De Franceschi stone in the Carnian cemeteries, read from the photograph. > MADDALENA DE FRANCESCHI 1875 – 1951 and LUIGI GIORGIS 1875 – 1950, «I FIGLI DOLENTI POSERO» — set up by the grieving children. Read 29 September 2026 from David's photographs of the Carnian cemeteries — Ovaro, Mione, Muina and Agrons. ⚠ Which of the four cemeteries this stone stands in is not distinguished in the photographs, and is not guessed here. (doc for the inscription.) Born the same year as her husband and outliving him by a year. --- 29 September 2026 — the stone in full, and it is a family monument. > FAM. GIORGIS — LUIGI GIORGIS 1875 – 1950 · MADDALENA DE FRANCESCHI 1875 – 195[1] · LODOVICO GIORGIS 1901 – 195[?] · SERAFINO GIORGIS · CATERINA MICOLI 1903 – 19[??] — five porcelain ovals in a column down the right edge; and on the ledger slab in front, ANNAMARIA GIORGIS 1933 – 1997 and LUCIA GARETTINI 1933 – 2023. ⚠ Several of the death years are running with damp and are not legible in the photograph, and are left blank rather than guessed. So she is not on a couple's headstone but at the head of a Giorgis family plot spanning 1875 to 2023 — five generations of the family she married into, and a Micoli and a Garettini married into it after her. ⚠ A Micoli stands here and a Micoli stands on Amalia's Rovis stone too; the Giorgis, Rovis, Micoli and De Franceschi of these villages married round each other for a century, and this archive has not untangled it.

This archive holds 6 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
