What the archive knows

Cimitero Comunale Monumentale Campo Verano The tree and this archive disagree by 5 years on the birth, which is too much for age arithmetic. Tree 1919, here 1924; the death year agrees. One of the two is wrong about the person, not the sum — either a record is matched to the wrong man, or a date was misread from a hard hand. Unresolved, and flagged rather than averaged. (20 Sept 2026.)

Not this family — and this archive said he was. He stood in Brisbane on the map as the one Defranceschi there, flagged as ours. In David's live MyHeritage tree his parents are «QLD Defranceschi (Deceased)» and «Unknown Defranceschi» — placeholder nodes, a stub for an unconnected Queensland family of the name. There is no join to the Gologorica line, and the diaspora page already files Brisbane 1938–2013 with the Italian post-war assisted migration of the 1950s and 60s, which is a different movement from the Croatian displaced persons of 1949. One man, one row. He stood twice — once off the Find a Grave memorial at Centenary Memorial Gardens and once out of MyHeritage 4507883 — with two slugs under /who/ and two dots in Brisbane. The two are folded together, and the surviving row carries both spellings and both sources.

Son of Cesira De Franceschi, in Italy in 1982. Death notice, «The Canberra Times», 25 September 1982, p. 22; memorial-service notice, 2 October 1982, p. 21.

No family is drawn for this name — this archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry that names it beside anybody else. A record does stand behind it: the 6 below, not joined to any household. The Register is where an index entry would appear if one turned up.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 1 other page under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Mario DeFranceschi

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

…to fuzzy matching — the results are «de Ruyter de Wildt» and «de Jong de Silva». It is not a holding.) And the is the expected one, which is why it is worth writing down rather than worrying about. This family's only two Queensland deaths are Mario De Franceschi in 2013 and Antony De Franceski in 1999. The index closes deaths at 1996. Both fall outside it by design, not by absence — so this search could not have found them, and finding nothing else means there was no earlier Queensland branch. The arrival in…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
