What the archive knows

⭐ Born at Pola on 6 May 1896, baptised at the cathedral on 16 May (house 69, Ponte Castagner; baptiser the dean Basilisco): «Stephanus Petrus», the mother column reading «Franceschi Francisca ex orphanotrophio Tergestino» and the father's column empty; sponsors «Rosa Gaspar, faber ferrarius» and «Rosa Josepha»; midwife Simecka Dominica (Pula births 1893–96, Liber X, p. 465, entry 263, image 686 of waypoint 9R2Z-3T1, open; doc). The mother is written in the same words as at the baptisms of Paula, 1884 and of Joannes Antonius, 1894; inf that she is the same woman, now the mother of three at Pola over twelve years (her page). The surname is the mother's, and a foundling-home girl's surname is very likely an invented one (inf), so this is the name with no known descent attached. No line is claimed.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
