What the archive knows

An infant, and not the Julius of the other row. 1:1:6YBT-Q1D8 is a burial of 25 August 1833 at Vitipolis, aged 0. The row it resembled belongs to Julius the father, who is naming a daughter at her baptism in 1829. Read on FamilySearch, 27 September 2026.

The dates on this row are impossible and were copied from a burial. 1:1:6B47-ZBGJ is the baptism of his daughter Cattarina at Kaštelir on 9 November 1829, mother Maria Sesalin, where he is named as the father Julius De Franceschi. He was fathering a child in 1829 and this archive published him as born in 1833. He is not the Julius who died in 1833. No year of his own is recorded.

The same name, written another way

This archive holds 3 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Giulia de Franceschi (Pucher) · Giulio Defranceschi · Julius Laurentius Defranceschi

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
