What the archive knows

Born 6 December 1868, baptised 10 December at Pomer, house 33 — second child of Matheus Lazaro and Lucia Defranceschi (godparents Antonio Volchić and Maria Kuhtić). The midwife written in the last column is «Magdalena V.va Defranceschi» — her maternal grandmother, Magdalena Buić, Tomas's widow. doc — DGS 005497826, frame 656 (births frame 35, page 3; waypoint 9R2F-FMH), magnified. Not in the FamilySearch index extract (it begins at 1870). Whether she lived is not established.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 2 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Maria Henrica Defranceschi · Maria Maddalena DeFranceschi Bordonzotti

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
