What the archive knows

The historian's wife, and until today this archive did not have her name. > FAMIGLIA de FRANCESCHI — MARIA MICHELI, MOGLIE DI CARLO — PISINO 1828 — PARENZO 1880 Read 29 September 2026 from David's photographs of the family tomb in the cemetery at Gologorica — a walled monument with a cross, the arms in the pediment, and three tablets. (doc.) She was born at Pisino — Pazin — in 1828 and died at Parenzo in 1880, thirteen years before Carlo, who outlived her and is buried in the same monument. Her maiden name is Micheli, and no page of this archive carried it before this stone was read. She is on the right-hand tablet with two of her children, Virginia and Pietro — a mother and two children who all died before their father.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

Maria Micheli, wife of Carlo Pisino 1828 – Parenzo 1880 This archive's research log has carried, as an open question, «Carlo's own marriage — which would give his wife's name, still missing from this archive». It is on the tablet. Maria Micheli, born at Pisino in 1828, died at…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
