What the archive knows

An unmarried Defranceschi woman of fifty-eight, and this archive had no row for her at all. > «Joh. Marinich, Canonicus Gallignanensis · [domus] 36 · 26 aprilis [1792] · SANCTA DEFRANCESCHI, CŒLEBS · annorum 58 · febris putrida» (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214, M01069233, pages 11–12 of the Gologorica death register.) Cœlebs — unmarried. Fifty-eight in April 1792 puts her birth about 1734. She died of a putrid fever at house 36, four weeks before Catharina, the young wife of that house. ⚠ Her parents are not established and no family is attached. The book's index files her under «Defranceschi Joseph · N.º 17», but an index is a clerk's filing decision and she died at house 36. A spinster of about 1734 belongs to the generation of Josephus (b. 1722) and Helena — plausibly a sister — and that is a guess, written here as one. ⭐ She was buried by a canon of GALLIGNANA — Gračišće. The second churchman of that parish to stand over this family inside a decade. --- ⭐ 9 October 2026 — a second, independent entry for her, and its value is that it adds NOTHING. > 26. · Santina moglie q. Andrea Gabaro — 1728 · Santina Defranceschi, cœlibe, N.º 36, d'anni 58 — 1792 · Francesco Schina N.º 60, d'anni 63 mesi 3 — 1817 (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214, M01069209: the obit calendar, under 26 April.) Same day, same year, same age, same «cœlebs», same house 36 — every particular of the burial entry already held, from a different book. That is why it is recorded: she is the CONTROL. The calendar was opened today and is being used to date people this archive has only from a family tree — and a finding aid compiled after the fact has to be tested against a case that can be checked before its uncheckable cases are trusted. It passes. [Which is what licenses taking its 1797 for the priest seriously against the register's bracketed [1798]](/person/joannes-mathias-franceschi-gologorica/), and its 1751 for Leonardo.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
