What the archive knows

Named as Giacomo de Franceschi's wife on carta 66, at the baptism of their daughter Maria on 11 February 1728 — «Maria fig.a leg.ma di Giacomo de Fran.chi et di Elena jugali», read at magnification. She does not reconcile with the rest of the household as this archive holds it: a Maria is carried as Giacomo's first wife in 1731, an Anzoletta stands on carta 83 in 1733 and an Anzola in 1737. Three or four wives in ten years is more likely two Giacomos — and the 1733 clerk says as much by writing «di Pietro» after the name for the first time. Recorded as read, and the conflict is left open. The Svetvinčenat leaves, read 21 September 2026 — film 005497885, the volume's own register text rather than its index. (doc)

This name sits in more than one household. 2 households of his or her own survive the date check. The first is drawn. Joining them on a name alone is the mistake this site keeps having to correct.

Where this comes from

0 of the 11 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes. 11 come from a FamilySearch index entry — a transcription, not the page.

Joined on a name alone. 2 households above could not be date-checked, because this archive holds no year for the person or for the household. Treat that link as a lead.

The same name, written another way

This archive holds 5 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
