- Franciscus Defranceschi (tailor of Kaštelir, 1818–1892) — 1818 – 1892, Kaštelir
«Franciscus Defranceschi, sartor — q.m Julii», died 26 January 1892 of apoplexy, aged seventy-three years and five months, at house 23 of Castellier. That puts his birth at about August 1818, and quondam Julii gives his father: a Giulio Defranceschi, already dead. He is the head of a household this archive did not know it had. Two children were buried from the same house — Joannes Aloysius de Franceschi Kastelir 1858 at eight months in 1858 and Josephus Defranceschi Kastelir 1870 at eight years in 1870 — and the 1870 entry calls that boy «sartoris», son of the tailor. (The 1858 entry says agricola: either the trade changed in twelve years or the house held two families. Recorded as it stands.) (doc for the death, age, trade and father's name.) Film 005497821 (Liber Defunctorum, Parochia SS. Cosmae et Damiani, Castellier — Kaštelir), read on the plate 22 September 2026. One of David's own citations, never opened here until now.
0 of the 4 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes. 4 come from a FamilySearch index entry — a transcription, not the page.
4 households were rejected before this chart was drawn, because the dates do not fit a person of this name: Antonius Defranceschi, filius Usualdi et Apoloniæ × Francisca née Defranceschi (1852) · Antonius Defranceschi × Francisca Defranceschi (1854) · Franciscus Defranceschi × Maria Stefanutti (1868–1872) · Franciscus Defranceschi × Ruža / Rosa Defranceschi (Salamon) (1883–1884).

This archive holds 10 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
