What the archive knows

The tree and this archive disagree about the birth year by 1 year, and the death year agrees. Tree 1776, here 1775. That is what an age produces. A record giving «aged N» rather than a date yields a birth year that depends on whether the birthday had passed, so the two are one year of arithmetic apart, not one of evidence. This archive keeps its own figure, which came off the register; the tree's is recorded so the difference is visible rather than silently resolved. (20 Sept 2026.)

Married Ursula de Berzoni at Fiume on 6 October 1793. The act names the couple together, which is what this archive requires before a spouse is written down. Two of their children are now identified: Anna Maria, baptised 4 March 1801, and Pietro, baptised 10 April 1803 — whose act names his mother Ursula, which is what tied the household together. Both had been carrying dates copied from other people's burials and were corrected on 28 September. Read on FamilySearch, 28 September 2026.

This archive has not placed this name in a household. What it does have is one indexed entry.

This is a record, not a family. The index names these people on one page and does not say how they are related — a parent, a spouse and a godparent look identical here. Nothing above has been joined to anything.

The same name, written another way

This archive holds 5 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

…out to sit on real Fiume baptisms: Anna Maria, 4 March 1801, and Pietro, 10 April 1803, the latter naming his mother Ursula. They were briefly and wrongly attached to Valentino × Helena — whose children stop in 1757. They belong to Valentinus Defranceschi, born 1775/76, who married Ursulam De Berzoni at Fiume on 6 October 1793. The marriage act is 1:1:6YBR-ZFPR and names the couple together, so it is now a spouse link in the roster rather than an assumption. ⚠ And it puts a name one letter away…

…and a wife for the Valentino of Fiume whose household item 143 exists to reconstruct». They are not. Valentino × Helena's children run 1737–1757, and Pietro's act names his mother Ursula, not Helena. They belong to a later Valentino: Valentinus Defranceschi, born 1775/76, who married Ursula de Berzoni at Fiume on 6 October 1793 — 1:1:6YBR-ZFPR, an act that names the couple together. Right family, right port, wrong generation by two. The irony is exact and is left standing: the sentence was…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
