- Franciscus Carolus Natalis Defranceschi — 1874 – 1942, Trieste
Born 6 October 1874, baptised the 11th — and CARLO DE FRANCESCHI stood godfather. Gologorica baptisms, folio 150 (M01069156), house 11: «FRANCISCUS CAROLUS NATALIS die 6. Octob. natus», of «Franciscus Defranceschi, possidens» and «Clotildis nata Ortis»; godparents «CARLO DEFRANCESCHI» and «Natale Stipanich», entered cives. (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214.)* He carries both godparents' names — Carolus for Carlo, his father's brother, who was six days short of sixty-five; Natalis for Natale Stipanich. The archive has Carlo's writings, his letter, his book and his grave. This is the first time it has him in his own village's register doing an ordinary family thing. ⭐ And the margin gives his death: «† Tergeste 17-2-1942» — died at Trieste, 17 February 1942, where this archive held only the year. ⚠ A second copy of the 1920 Commissariato ruling on the family surname is written out by hand at the foot of his page — the same act that is pasted in type over his brother Victor Richardus's entry. The signature is clearer here: «Avv. Mellone».
13 of the 13 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
