- Victor Richardus Defranceschi — 1871, Gologorica
Born 15 June 1871, baptised 2 July, at house 7 — and an Italian state office rewrote his surname forty-nine years later. Gologorica baptisms, folio 142 (M01069152, the exposure with the pasted slip folded back): «[domus] 7 · VICTOR RICHARDUS die 15. Junii natus», of «Franciscus Defranceschi, possidens» and «Clotilde nata Ortis»; godparents Jodocus and Angelica Baxa. (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214.) The pedigree already had 15 June 1871; the baptism, the house and the godparents are new.* ⭐ AND HIS IS THE ENTRY THE 1920 RULING IS ABOUT. A typewritten slip is pasted across his baptism, and his own entry carries «vide … sub 30 protocoll.» in the margin, pointing at it: > «Giusta lettera del Commissariato Gen. An Italian office, settling how his surname was to be written, cited a birth certificate of 1626 from Carnia. He was forty-nine and newly an Italian subject. What the act is worth, and the four things it is not — and worklist 179, which now has two addresses: the act itself and the Gorto register at Luincis.
13 of the 13 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes.

…and Angelica Baxa. And in the margin of the entry, in the same hand as the slip: «vide … sub 30 protocoll.» — see the document under protocol 30, a cross-reference from the register to the ruling. So the 1920 act is about Victor Richardus Defranceschi, born 15 June 1871, baptised 2 July — a man of forty-nine in 1920, in exactly the position to need an Italian birth certificate. This was written up an hour ago as an inference. It is not one. ⭐ AND IT…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
