- Mattio De Franceschi — 1674, Rovinj
- Mattio De Franceschi — 1819, Pula
Dead before 9 February 1766, and known only because his daughter married. The marriage entry calls her «Elena figlia di q[uondam] Mattio de Franceschi, nativa di questo Castello» — quondam being the whole of what is recorded about him. He is the ninth man of the name at the castle and no birth, marriage or burial of his has been found. This archive already carries a Mattio De Franceschi born 1674 and another born 1690 at Svetvinčenat, from the household and tree sources. A man dying before 1766 could be either, or neither, and none of the three is merged here — the marriage gives a forename and a death-before date, which is not enough to join a person to a person. (doc for the fact of his death; the identification is open.) He has a second daughter, and so his household has a shape. On 17 October 1773 the same register marries «Fusca filia q. Mathiae de Franceschi Parochiana huius Ecclesiae» to Marc'Antonio Jacomini. Elena in 1766 and Fusca de Franceschi in 1773 are both daughters of a dead Mattio de Franceschi of this parish — two entries, seven years apart, in one volume. (doc for each entry; that the two fathers are one man is inf, and it would take two dead Mattios in one small parish to break it.) He remains recorded only through his children's weddings.
0 of the 8 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes. 8 come from a FamilySearch index entry — a transcription, not the page.
4 households were rejected before this chart was drawn, because the dates do not fit a person of this name: Valentino Defranceschi × Elena Defranceschi (1742) · Mattio De Franceschi × Giustina (1791–1794) · Mattio Defranceschi × Domenica Frezza (1846–1846) · Mattio Defranceschi × Domenica Frezza (1844–1846).

This archive holds 10 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

…merged. And the dossiers already resolve what matters. build-dossiers.py groups rows by slug, so one page carries «Found in: Household· Parish burial· Read off the register· Record index», and a second pass cross-links the spellings, so Mattio De Franceschi already reached its eight variants. One real hole underneath it, though. That fold keeps the whole name, so it never joined a long baptismal name to its own short form. …it from 1569. The 1569, 1583 and 1592 entries that a surname search returns are Fracischetto, Francoscheto and Franceschero — three other families, and a caution against reading a fuzzy match as a date. The household that can be followed is Mattio De Franceschi and Elisabetta, who baptise Martino in 1722 and Benedetto on 23 October 1726. Isabetta is buried on 4 December 1728 and Matto on the 27th of the same month — three weeks apart. And the archive already held that second entry from outside:…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
